14 Year Old Girl Tasered in The Head by Police

<p style=”text-align: center;”></p>

News from Albuquerque reports that a 14-year-old girl, Kyley Martinez,  was Tasered by Police Chief, Roger Hatcher which enatvertinatleystruck the girls head, penetrated her skull and then struck her brain.

Stacy Akin and her 14-year-old daughter, Kyley,  were arguing Thursday over a cell phone in front of the Tucumcari Police Department.  The mother had driven the girl to the Police Department seeking help after finding  inappropriate text messages and pictures on her daughters phone she had been sending to older-men.<img style=”margin: 5px 3px; border: black 10px solid;” title=”head” src=”http://www.chattertonguegossip.com/wp-content/uploads/head.bmp” alt=”head” />

The argument that ensued in the front of the Police  Headquarters resulted in the 14-year-old running      from the scene.

The 14-year-old, Kyley was later spotted at a park by Police Chief Roger Hatcher.  Hatcher stated that when he got out of his vehicle and called to the girl she ran.  Hatcher said he tried to catch the girl on foot but was unable to catch up to the fleeing 14-year-old.  He says he believed that he had no other choice but to fire a Taser dart at the girl.

Kiley Martinez says that she heard the officer call to her but decided to walk away.  When she saw him pull his Taser, she became frightened and ran…

The parents are outraged and are questioning whether excessive force was used by Police Chief Hatcher.

Hatcher is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

I personally feel a mix of emotions over this incident.  I know that a  more questions must be asked before determining whether the amount of force used by the Police Chief was excessive or not.

Of course I’m outraged at the thought of any 14-year-old being Tasered.  But did the officer keep the girl away from an even larger threat?  Remember, the girl was sending texts and inappropriate pictures to older-men.  Could she have been waiting for one of these men to come retrieve her from the park?  Did the officers actions, although seemingly extreme, keep the teenager from being raped, killed and her body dumped in some ravine?

It also concerns me that she was so willing to disregard direction given to her by an officer of the Law.  Did she think that the Taser was a gun, a deadly weapon, and therefore that is why she ran?

What do you think?  Was the force the officer used excessive?  Click on the Title of this article located at the top of the page and leave your opinions….
