Entertainment Weekly has released the following :
The heavily promoted fifth-season premiere of Jon & Kate Plus 8 posted record ratings for TLC on Memorial Day. The hour-long episode — in which tabloid cover queen Kate Gosselin admitted, “I have a lot of anger…this is not what I envisioned for us” — attracted a whopping 9.8 million viewers, which more than doubled the audience that tuned into the show’s season 4 finale in March (4.6 million). Early estimates also reveal that the premiere, which lured unprecedented numbers of women aged 18-34 and women 18-49, was TLC’s (and Jon & Kate’s) most-watched episode ever. It also trounced the broadcast networks, which aired mostly repeats because of the holiday (an original episode of The Bachelorette on ABC lured 6 million). Final ratings are due Wednesday
Most of us have guessed that this would be the case, even to the point that many of the Kate Haters out there refused to watch the Season 5 Premier. Personally, I don’t see that it made much of an impact or statement to TLC at all. I have viewed many websites where the public blogs in a question such as “I refused to watch the show last night, but can someone please tell me what happened?” So it seems that even though the public is crying out child exploitation, the public still wants to know…

Well they need to decide…… For Love or Money?
It’s all about money. John left his job and Kate travels around the US giving speeeches, their house is paid for, they have a large mini-van that is paid for, their children get to do anything they want (paid for)when the stablishments are closed they open for the Gosselins that is the only good thing is the children get pampered.
Could Kate go back to working in a hosptial full-time doing nursing. Could anyone tolerate her? She would be fired in a day. She is a nag and just like “Maddy” I want what I want when I want it. Get over yourself Kate, get in the real life. How about getting up and going to work, getting children ready for school, coming home getting dinnner ready, doing laundry, homework, housework and getting ready for work the next a.m.
Maybe you should think twice about kicking John to the curb, he does tolerate your bratty behavior and everything is paid for! What a concept Kate! Maybe the counter is not exactly how you want it, maybe you could hire “another” cleaning lady that you will fire since they do not hold up to your expectations. Who paid for the nanny’s and housekeeper, your TLC benefits???
Life is hard.
No, Kate claims they have 2 mortgages. One on their old house and one on their new! LOL…….Yeah, I wish I had it so hard……..
Oh I forgot, Kate, how did you get a free tummy tuck and breast augmentation – from the TLC program that they pay you to show your family. You made choices in your life, so sorry……
This opening episode is the first that I watched of the Gosselins family, and I have to say I can see why Jon is reaching out to at least have an emotional affair…
In the time that the two interacted for their 5 yr olds b day parties, never once did Kate say thank you or please to her beloved of 10 yrs… It is little wonder the guy feels beat down.
She complains that she has to do this party alone, repeatedly, however at the same time she says Jon has help in raising the kids…
Doesn’t this woman get that a MAN needs to feel like he is really providing for his family??? Instead the family is prostituted out for money, and he sits home as Kate goes out promoting the family….
Kate also laments that her child called her the baby sitters name… Really, some of us working mums have had to experience the same thing, however we didn’t have the choice as to whether we wanted to be busting our butts to provide for our young, it is just a fact of life.
The reality is that both Kate and Jon have gone into their little pitty parties of what they aren’t getting from the other person. Thus they retreat to other people trying to get their needs met, forgetting the most important people of all, and that are the kids that see this…
These people need to stop kidding themselves that their children don’t notice, because kids are very aware of things being wrong between mum and dad…
Kate is defensive, and seems to be angry at Jon for NOT appreciating what she is doing for the family, at the same time she fails to see how he feels unappreciated himself.
YES, it is easier to beat up on Kate, simply because she seems to be extremely demanding, and expects everything to go a certain way, without realizing the world doesn’t revolve around her demands, and wants for perfection…
It would be interesting if TLC brought in a REAL LIFE family, that don’t have the benefit of paid for hair transplants, belly lifts, homes, vans, and fancy parties… Where both husband and wife have to work hard to make ends meet, and even deal with job loss…
Maybe they also need to stop looking for this elusive world that revolves around what THEY want, and what they really have done to their own lives… Complaining about paparazzi, because it doesn’t fit into the scheme of what they want… This is reality of being a star, and people are interested in seeing the dirt, and not just the nice nice, of having someone do your hair, up keep your home, and pay for things most people have to work off, or live with like baldness and sagging bellies and boobs…
Remember the two made a choice to prostitute their family to the public, now they are unhappy with the results of how it has openly shown each other grow apart. I can’t help but wonder how this will affect these 8 kids in the future where they have been used to being some sort of star…
Perhaps the family needs to take a break, and find each other again, and what is supposed to be really important, which is raising happy kids, with two adjusted parents…
Kate, the world does NOT revolve around being up tight and perfect, when you learn this, you may realize that life isn’t as hard and as frustrating as it is now… Perhaps Jon will then see the woman he had fell in life with, instead of this angry, resentful woman, that sees him as just another person to boss around…
But I guess the negative gets TLC more views, and you two more money… Hope it is worth it at the expense of YOUR family, and marriage…
If they didn’t want the ” P people” at the birthday party they could have had it at their home. They have plenty of land now to have 2 or 3 bouncing houses. It’s about the ratings like TMZ said. Don’t complain when you knew they followed you to party city then take the party to a public place. They wanted them there.
I hate that this is happening to them just as I would about any couple having serious problems, and especially since kids are involved. I think many, many of us saw it coming, though… If you reverse the situation, have Jon gone much of the time leaving Kate at home with 8 kids to care for, then Jon critisizing her every mistake, we’d all be saying “What an ass!!” So to Kate, I say “What a bitch!!” And speaking of asses, Kate desparately needs to pull her toilet-brush head out of hers and smell the coffee… if there’s time before lunch or dinner…
