Workplace Bitches – How Do You Win?
I’m sure most of you at one time or another has worked in an office with a gaggle of women. Now don’t get me wrong, I am also a female, but lordy be, some women are ridiculous. What happened to the idea of a “sisterhood”, to sticking together and helping each other reach goals, to have friendships? I started this blog as a true life drama, a real situation that is occurring as we blog, but decided just to hit upon the topic – Jealousy, more specifically jealousy of a pretty women.
Why do these women bitches love people like them, insecure, unhappy with themselves and full of self pity? Put a whole gaggle of them together and the situation can become real DANGEROUS!! It usually only takes one “leader”, the one who is so self absorbed with her problems, the one who makes a big public deal of everything and everyone in her life, the one who expects every one around her to feel sorry for her, and I almost forgot, to admire her for working while dealing with her severe health problems.
On the opposite spectrum we have the one attractive women, who is secure with who she is, who doesn’t want nor need pity of any kind, and who actually has a severe health problem that she will probably die from. The difference being nobody knows this…..would letting this fact out change the way the gaggle views this women? Would she then be welcomed into their gaggle…..would the jealousy stop if this gaggle realized that she was indeed no different then them on the inside? It just happens to be that her outsides are pretty in today’s standards. Why do other women put her on this unattainable pedestal? Why do other women automatically think that she thinks she is better than everyone else?
Jealousy, has caused pretty women to lose their jobs in the past, and I’m afraid a close friend of mine will become the next statistic in the very close future. Rant over………………….

Hi Cinoda. I love this topic, and not one you hear about often. Well, I shouldn’t say you never hear about it, but mostly the media portrays attractive people in general, having it easier the the rest of the population. Getting hired over the not so attractive, who might in fact be more qualified. Special treatment from bosses, teacher’s, etc.
I like seeing the other side.
I guess everyone feels like a victim at some point no matter what. I wonder in a work environment, where there are several “knockouts”, what happens then?
I have no answers, just thought provoking.

Well, the workplace and females don’t usually get along. What would happen if they did, BORING. There is always at least one who has to be the “Hen” and get’s everyone riled up.
What about the boss? How do they fit in? Why don’t they try and take control? Nip this “crap” in the butt? Why are their favorites? Treat each other with respect!
If people would go to work, do the job they are paid for (great idea) maybe Corporate America would not be in the crap they are in.

Good points Ladybug, I think that for some people “work” or “their career” is their life!! They define who they are by what they do. I know from personal experience that no matter how much you “nip” it, it will always continue, maybe with different players or different situations. As a boss, with actual work to get accomplished, sometimes you hope it just dies out. Then you wait for the next for the next chaos. The real problem is when the bosses are involved with the discrimination. Yes, I call it discrimination…anyone being treated differently due to physical appearances consistitues discrimination. I still think it comes down to jealousy and low self esteem that a lot of women haven’t dealt with. I would much rather work with a group of men then a gaggle of women! For the most part, men will tell you to your face how they feel, where as women love to talk behind your back!!
Hello! I love this topic. I work with mostly women, there’s a few men in the mix, but I’ll get to them later.
Here’s one for you. My former boss, an extremely beautiful youngish woman always favored the extremely cute part timer.
She is very sweet, and we all love her, but… she is late all the time. Others were written up, or warned about this, but not her. She never even said anything to her, even though she was late every single day she was to to work.
Seems that pretty likes pretty.
Ironically this “beautiful” boss of mine was fired. And by the man who probably hired her in the first place, no doubt her looks helped, because she, in no way, had the qualifications to be a bank manager. So now she’s gone and things are now running much smoother and fairer.
And one last comment: If you think it’s tough to work with a bunch of women? Try throwing a gay guy in the mix. Fun conversations? You bet. Social get-togethers afer hours?
Yep. Blood on the floor from all the back stabbing? You could slip on it. Brutal.
PS. He was fired too, but I still miss the fun parts.

Are there any men out there? Do guys play games like this in the workplace with other “guys”? Do you all “suck” up to the boss? How do you handle back stabbers?

It’s true. The guys in my work place could care less about all the silly pettiness. They get mad, they get over it, they don’t lose any sleep, either. Guys are all about the here and now. Definitely more mature in a work setting, in general that is. I bet in a work setting with all guys, there just has to be some rivalry, especially in sales. Most are just thinking about sex, food, and sex.
Let me put it this way.. I have worked of a woman for many years…. Every time she had a fight with her family, I paid for it the next day.. When she was having a bad day, I would pay for it…. I was attacked at was expected to absorb the abuse… When it did come down to it… I was on my on… Now, that Im no longer there, others are suffering her rath… She make better than $200,000 a year, but those who worked hard and got it for her are shit! Thats all Im willing to say!!!!
